Your Market For Faster Credibility

They follow a theme of “Connect – Create – Collaborate.” Each video is shorter than that lame sitcom you were thinking about watching :)

In today’s lesson, I’m teaching you all about Tweet Deck. Make sure you download the software when I tell you to in the video, and get ready to take action on what I’m showing you in the video.

After watching, share your comments below – specifically, how will you take action on what you’ve learned, and what types of audiences are you going to be connecting to on Twitter using TweetDeck? And be sure to use @BobTheTeacher in your tweet about today’s video (or just use the handy Twitter and Facebook share buttons above!).

Coming Up In Video 2

Then stay tuned for my announcement that video 2 is ready (you’ll get it in your email inbox!).

You’ll learn…

  • The fastest way to showcase your expertise
  • How some free tools actually cost you a lot of money!

  • How to get up and running quickly with my favorite piece of product creation technology (I couldn’t do my business without this!)
  • And a lot more!

    Hello Bob,

There is an old expression that states “you get back what you put in” I think you score heavily on this one.
    well done

    John

  2. Thank you so much for the lesson. I have investigated TweetDeck. Now I must follow up by tweeting more.

  3. Amos

The lesson learn’t here is so specific that I am putting it into action right away. The Tweet Deck plus the lesson will surely be helpful in redusing the tiem spent on monitoring information on Tweeter.
    Thanks
    Amos

  4. Thanks, Bob! This was great! I’m so glad you’re giving us a 2nd opportunity to benefit from this series of videos! 2011 is the year that I’m breaking out of information overload and making my business SOAR. Thanks for this; I’m looking forward to the next 2 videos. Off to get my TweetDeck!!

  5. great info, the section on researching the market was especially useful to me as I’m struggling to find my business’ identity and mission. Thanks, Bill

  6. David

I’ve heard a lot of good things about TweetDeck. Thanks for the tips on how to use it.

I’ve tried to install TweetDeck many times and it just won’t install for me. I’ve seen that lots of other people have a problem with this too, but the solution for it is not at all clear. So I found something similar called Yoono. What is nice about Yoono is that it is a Firefox extension, so it works right from your browser, which makes it very convenient.

Many of your tips for TweetDeck also apply to Yoono, so thanks for the help. Twitter is just too confusing and overwhelming without something like this.

Hi Bob. Thank you for sharing this valuable piece of information with your audience. This exposure has opened me up to another resource for helping me to tap into the social media industry. Next steps, to set up a twitter account and create a column based on my interest and move on from there

    Thanks again!

  8. Hi Bob,
Watched the first video, signed up for, downloaded TweetDeck. Interesting how the tweets pop up as pop ups.
    Denise

  9. Just fnished watching your fab video Bob.
Thank you. I did not know TweetDeck existed.
    Off to download it now.

  10. hey Bob, Relative newbie to online marketing, learning alot but having some difficulties figuring out how to ransition my offline biz (commercial & Fin Art Photography) to the online arena.
I really enjoyed your TweetDeck video, as I have built a friends list on Twitter of about 3000, but not specific enough and dont really know how to monitize it yet. Im living and working in Germany so alot of the Tweets from around the states hit me when Im asleep, so dont really get much from it… your tips of how to use the inside lists in TweetDeck helps alot!
Looking forward to your followup vids.. and since I lived in AZ a long time, Sedona is one of my fav places on earth… great to see the Canyon again!
Greets from Germany and Happy Holidays!
    Will

  11. Thanks for this great short video. I have used Tweet Deck in the past, but somehow I forgot what the benefit was to using it. Thanks for reminding me. I have it back on, and will be using it.

  12. Thanks for the video, Bob. I sometimes paste my tweet into my facebook status. No more! I’ll be using Tweetdeck…and getting more engaged.

I’m going to watch the next two as soon as I post to twitter.

I promoted my last 2 events exclusively through FB & Twitter…with some success.
These videos will INCREASE my results.

    Thanks again!
    Ann Bell

  13. Hi Bob,

I’m going to give it a go! I had been avoiding Twitter for the “too much noise” reason. Wasn’t sure how I could use it effectively. Your information is concise and easy to follow…is that all there is to it…making good use of Twitter?

    All the best,
    Karla

    • Hi Karla – using Twitter is one example of social media in action. Of course it’s not the only channel, and some point in the future it may go by the wayside. Right now, the hot social media channels are Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube. That can change, but it usually takes about 9-12 months for the lead to change.

The key is to focus on the idea that within ANY social media channel there are tools and tactics to stay focused on only the things you want to pay attention to. And ignore the noise that causes most people to quit too soon.

  14. Hi, Bob the Teacher!
Thanks so much for the Tweet Deck lesson. I’ve been playing around with tools hoping to come up with a way to get into conversation at Twitter with the distraction of all that “NOISE”. After I finish writing this comment, I’m going to load up the latest version of TweetDeck and stop just playing around. It’s my goal to dive deep and use Twitter consistently in my 2011 social media marketing. Thanks for your work! Looking forward to the next lesson because creating content is HIGH on my list of 2011 business building strategies.
    Blessings,
    Kate

    • Thanks for your tweets Kate and following through on your homework! Since you deal with social media marketing, I know your clients are also going to benefit from your use of TweetDeck. Although you have to be diligent about making sure you don’t send messages out from the wrong account, you can actually line up a bunch of Twitter accounts within TweetDeck, and monitor each of their @replies, DMs, etc.

  15. Hi Bob – homework is done! I already had Tweetdeck but not great at using it. The Market research section on Video 1 would be what is considered a ‘clinical pearl’ for me. Thanks as always for great stuff. Going to move on to Video 2.

PS I’m guessing you were at the Grand Canyon?

    • Hey Chris – yep, these are shot on location at the Grand Canyon.

Good term, “clinical pearl.” Although I like to just call it a “eureka moment.”

Looking forward to what you take action on after watching video 2!

  16. I touched on TweetDeck some time back, but didn’t pursue because it sounded complex. You’ve simplified it to the point that I am on my way over to download and check it out. I will send you a msg.

Thanks a bunch for sharing and Happy Holidays.

  17. Bob,

Great looking site and great content.

I think that building relationships and getting personal (like you do in the video series on this site) will be crucial to marketing success in 2011 and beyond.

Looking forward to the next video.

    Brian

    • Thanks Brian – I know you’ve seen the same patterns I have where too many fly-by-night gurus for a week try to push out crap and hope they don’t leave a trail when they’re done with a launch. People love the connections and relationships and I know that’s what I look for with anybody I’m doing business with anymore. That includes restaurants, shopping mall stores, etc.

  18. Hi Bob,

Loved the video! I have been using tweetdeck but I didn’t think about the market research idea or the hashtags. Great information thanks.

    Kelley

    • You’re welcome Kelley! You could go crazy with all the different dog breeds and pet keywords. So stay focused on a few of your favorites to start with.

  19. Awesome video Bob! Love tweetdeck. Learned a few new things. Thanks!

  20. I have been looking at material from many sources on the web about how to go about building my presence and you are beginning to impress me more each time I look at your material. Thanks

    • Hey Ron – you’re very welcome. I’ve been doing this for a while now, and know how hard it is to find quality sources of training in the “market your business online” space. I’ve seen a lot of people come and go. Good to know what I can provide is helping you more and more!

  21. Dan

I guess I’ll finally get that website up so I can use Twitter. usefully.

    • Hey Dan – it’s a step-at-a-time process, like anything else. As you build your website, try to keep it simple and focused on one particular topic as much as you can.

  22. Thanks for sharing such great information Bob! I now understand and have a better sense on how Twitter can help us connect with the people interested in a particular topic(s). Created a “column” in tweetdeck based on main keyword of interest and looking forward to participate in the tweet-conversations.

    All the best!

    @topicalstamps

    • Not sure how frequent “philatelist” is used, but I bet when you find them, they’ll love what you’re up to!

  23. Hawthorne Amiel

Thanks for the Video about TweetDeck this is new for me.
I will go now and Download and install TweetDeck on
    my computer

    • Hey Hawthorne – it’s always great to hear from you. Looking forward to seeing you become a Twitter master. Not sure if you are still working with/for mechanics industry, but people always need car advice and Twitter is a good place to get known for that expertise.

  24. Thanks a lot for the video. I downloaded Tweetdeck and I´m using my Twitter account. I didn´t find the Facebook link to use Facebook from Twwetdeck.
I used the info in your mail to me to promote your videos in my blog.
I would like to know if I can use your info in my blog. Of course I mention that is from Bob The teacher.
Thanks a lot for the video and the training.
    Jose Damaso Ramon

    • Hey Jose – with attribution (including my name and website), you can include my blog posts, articles, and emails that you can tell I’ve sent publicly. However, if you receive an email that is part of a paid product, obviously that is not for sharing.

  25. Hi! Bob, first I’ll install TweetDeck. I’ll play with it using all the features you described.
I did affiliate marketing and I think that especially this year this industry takes a turn for the worst.
So I change my niche with “mobile marketing” I want to stay with this for a while and see how is shaping up.
Now I have to do some thinking about what is importing for me on mobile marketing, it is a new market, so it will be interesting to follow.
Enough about me, thanks for this opportunity, we will be in touch!
    Michey

    • Hey Michey – check out what @ClayFranklin is up to with Mobile Marketing to get started.

The big thing with this first phase of your business is to be a connector to resources and see what people really want.

  26. Thanks for the great tips Bob. I have been using Hootesuite but I think TweetDeck will be more useful after watching your video. I definately plan to try it out. Can’t wait for the next videos.

As always Thanks for the helpful info!

    Kate Wilber
    @MommaMarketing

    • I like that TweetDeck is free, and I never got into HootSuite enough to master it. However, I know that HootSuite has some benefits, too. But TweetDeck is my preference especially for those that want something that’s simple to use.

  27. Bob,

Great content as usual! It is easy to get lost with Twitter and walk away thinking that this is not a good tool. Well at least I did until I learned more about it. Thanks for the info on TweetDeck.

    Greg

    • You’re welcome Greg! Like many other tools, Twitter can be a blessing and a curse (sometimes simultaneously!). TweetDeck rescued Twitter for me out of oblivion.

  28. Hey Bob, great video. One thing you didn’t make clear was how you added “Lists” to TweetDeck. That would be very helpful to know. :)

    • Hey Steve – great point. Only so much I can include in this particular video without turning it into a 2 hour lesson :)

      But here are the steps:

      1. Click the + sign to add a column
      2. Instead of search, go to Groups/Lists and click New List
      3. Name your list (single, short keyword works best). Give it a description. This will appear on the Twitter page for that list.
      4. Add list members by typing in the Twitter IDs of people you are following. You can also add people individually from their profiles.

Now you’ll be a list making genius!

  29. Aloha Bob! Now that I’m on break from UH Hilo (i’m a student) I want to really spend some time on following your plan of action to get a marketing business going. Last Nov. i missed a chance of your last special due to 5hr. difference?! .. but now i’m ready to learn and succeed…didn’t realize what i was missing with TweetDeck.!
looking forward to the next vid, thank you so much!

    • You’re welcome Tania! Being a student at the same time you’re building a business is tough. So it’s critical that you take what limited time you have and keep it focused on things that actually work. TweetDeck will help you with that for sure!

  30. By doing as you asked

  31. Hey Bob,
Thanks for the nudge. Even though I have had Tweetdeck on my iphone for sometime, had not thought about the points you make in this video. I took action and downloaded it on my ipad and Macbook Pro..
I had forgotten the power of Tweetdeck as a market research tool.
    thanks
    Glenn Seymour
    Raleigh NC.

    • Glenn – both in your home solar niche and in cancer research you’ll find TweetDeck pretty useful at finding the language your market is speaking about. Good to see you back in the fold!

  32. Bob -

This is great (and so much content as usual). Like Therese’s comment, I too created a Twitter account and got lost in all the ‘car sounds’ and noise. I did download and install TweetDeck as well as another product. And then I stopped.

I will revisit Twitter (and your secret socail media secret partner!)

    Thanks for sharing!

    Be Well.
    Paul.
    @GratitudeGuru

    • Hey Paul – you’re welcome. Since you were at SIMPLE 2, I’ve been watching your rapid progress in getting the Gratitude Guru out there far and wide. You’re doing a great job and your tweets and Facebook posts are fantastic!

  33. Thank you for this information Bob!

I started using twitter and got overwhelmed very quickly… it is SO helpful to know the key ways to channel this information and make sense of it so I can spend my time wisely. I love it when I can get this much useful information quickly.

    Off to tweet!

    ~Therese @RadicalLeader

    • Bob

You’re welcome Therese. I’m always excited to see your random bursts of tweeting and know that TweetDeck can help make you more consistent. You’ve got amazing wisdom and services to share – get them out there!
